Video: Dave Grohl unveils Sound City documentary trailer

A new trailer for Dave Grohl‘s documentary looking at the history of Los Angeles’ Sound City studios has been released, and can be viewed below.

The film marks Grohl’s directorial debut, and will be released via his own Roswell Films. The documentary is to feature interviews with various musicians who have worked in the studio since it first opened in 1969.

Dave Grohl has a long history of his own with Sound City having recorded there with the Foo Fighters in 1998, and after more significantly being a part of Nirvana‘s ‘Nevermind‘ sessions in 1991. He was back in the studios earlier this year with his former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic and ‘Nevermind’s producer Butch Vig as part of the filming process.

Other classic albums recorded in Sound City include Fleetwood Mac‘s ‘Rumours‘ and Neil Young‘s ‘After The Gold Rush‘, while more recently bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, Mastodon and Death Cab For Cutie have worked in the famous studios.
