Manchester band The Courteeners will release their long awaited third album in September, the band’s frontman Liam Fray has confirmed.
Fray broke the news to occasional XFM radio DJ and Sun journalist Gordon Smart at the T In The Park festival last weekend, revealing that: “The album’s done – the album’s done and dusted. It’s mixed, getting mastered next week, I think.”
“We took a long time writing it but that’s definitely a good thing – I think ‘Falcon’,I wouldn’t say we rushed it, but we didn’t necessarily pore over any decisions. It sounds, well what am I going to say? It sounds amazing!”
“It’s pencilled in for the end of September – that’s an exclusive.”
The new record will follow 2010′s ‘Falcon‘ which, led by the radio hit single ‘You Overdid It Doll‘, peaked at #3 on the UK Album Chart. Debut album ‘St. Jude‘ also broke the top 5 in Britain upon its release in April 2008.
