Madness frontman Suggs ‘escorted from Sting gig’

Madness frontman Suggs had to be removed from Sting‘s performance at the Henley festival in Oxfordshire on July 4th after lingering onstage during a rendition of The Police hit ‘De Do Do Do De Da Da Da‘.

The Sun newspaper reports Suggs getting onstage in an apparently drunken state and remarking: “I mean this so sincerely. When I was a kid, right, I used to look at Sting and I used to think, one day goddammit. Given the chance. And here it is right before you. Ladies and gentlemen, Sting.”

Sting then replied by saying, “Thank you Suggs, give him a round of applause ladies and gentlemen,” but when Suggs then began some Uncle-at-a-wedding-dancing, security men were forced to remove him.  The incident can be viewed via The Sun website here.

“It was an upmarket black tie event, it was the last place you’d expect to see an ageing rocker drunkenly burst on to the stage,” an ‘onlooker’ is quoted as saying.
