Arcade Fire look set to release a new album next year, according to a message on the Canadian band’s Twitter news-feed.

Although no concrete details have been mentioned, the message claimed Arcade Fire’s fourth album will be ready for release next year, declaring:

“BREAKING! New Arcade Fire album coming next year, Mercury Records has confirmed.”

The record will be the follow-up to ‘The Suburbs‘ which, upon its issue in August 2010, became one of the most successful rock releases of recent times. In moving back to the orchestral blend of sombre lyrical subject matter with a joyous musical production which made their debut album ‘Funeral‘ such a spectacular record, Arcade Fire delivered a critically-lauded body of work, while also enjoying a level of mainstream success which had previously eluded them.

‘The Suburbs’ would go on to win the coveted Album Of The Year prize at the 2011 Grammy Awards, and also picked up Best International Album at that year’s Brit Awards amongst many other accolades.
