Paul Weller already planning next solo album

Posted on 17 Jul 2012 at 9:31am

Former Jam star Paul Weller has said he wants to make a new album ‘as quickly as he can’ despite only releasing his most recent solo record, ‘Sonik Kicks‘, last March.

The Modfather was speaking to the Daily Star tabloid at last weekend’s Latitude festival, and revealed his marriage to Hannah Andrew in October 2010 has led to a purple patch of songwriting based around the theme of love, which he hopes to build into another LP as soon as possible.

“Love has always inspired me but I’m writing even more love songs than usual at the moment,” he said.

“Love is the main theme of my new lyrics and I’ve got an itchy feeling that I want to make a new album as quickly as I can.”

“The last two records, I’d make it up in the studio on the spot from tiny scraps of ideas,” he continued. “That’s been really liberating but if I kept doing that it’d become a formula too. So for my next album I’m totally open minded and I might go back to writing traditional songs.”
