The Flaming Lips have unveiled the route which they hope will take them to world record breaking glory.

Last month, the band revealed plans to attempt to break the world record for most gigs performed in 24 hours, which is currently held by Jay-Z who performed seven shows in seven different cities in 2006.

“I’ve accepted the attempt at breaking the world record of performing 8 shows in 24 hours,” frontman Wayne Coyne said when announcing the plan. “And I’ve explained to the music freaks at MTV, VH1 and CMT that I am not a host. But, I always liked the way Jerry Lewis would get all sweaty toward the end of his yearly telethon. To play and sing Flaming Lips songs at 8:00 in the morning, well, I’m open to new experiences.”

The Flaming Lips will start in Memphis, Tennessee on June 27th at 7:30 ET, persevering on through gigs in towns such as Clarksdale, Oxford and Hattiesburg before ending in New Orleans when they hope to have broken the record. They will be supported during the 24-hour jaunt by the likes of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Neon Indian and Grimes.
