Muse have revealed the title and tentative release date of their new album with an online trailer which can be viewed below.

The rock heavyweights will release their sixth studio album – ‘The 2nd Law‘ – in September, with the news being delivered on the video via a spoof news broadcast.

Back in December, the band’s bass player Chris Wolstenholme told Kerrang Muse were looking to head in a completely new direction on the follow-up to 2009’s ‘The Resistance‘, but admitted those plans could be quickly forgotten during the course of their time in the studio. However, if the music featured in the trailer is anything to go by, it would appear those intentions were indeed realised.

“We feel like we are drawing a line under a certain period of what we’ve done in our career,” he said. “It feels like it’s time to move on and do something radically different.”

“But then you could get into the studio and go back to what you’re comfortable with. You get in the studio and there’s a natural process and you have to see where a song will take you.”
