Elbow are planning on debuting a ‘big song’ from their next album when they perform at the Isle Of Wight festival this weekend, according to the band’s keyboard player Craig Potter.

“We’re hoping to play it at Isle Of Wight as it’s shaping up to be one of the big songs on our next album,” Potter told the Daily Star of their new track. “It’s got huge guitars and it’s quite psychedelic. I’m not sure if it’s a future single, but it sounds like the kind of song which will hopefully be a favourite at our gigs.”

Later, Potter also discussed the change in songwriting methods which the bandmates have witnessed as work continues on their sixth studio album.

“Rather than write and record in one big chunk as we’ve always done, we’re making the new record in little moments whenever we have time between being dads,” he continued. “It’s actually making us more productive. We’re already 30% finished, which is a record for us as we’re still touring the last album.”

This year’s Isle Of Wight festival will be headlined by the much heralded ‘trilogy’ of US superstars – Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and Pearl Jam.
