Download festival already has one headliner booked for 2013

284The Download festival already has one of its 2013 headliners signed and sealed, according to organiser Andy Copping.

Speaking to NME following the completion of last weekend’s event, Copping confirmed the booking of one headliner without revealing their identity, and also revealed ‘one or two’ other bands have been in touch with a view to appearing next year.

“We’ve already got a headliner confirmed and locked in for 2013, which is amazing, having that locked in so early. I can’t tell you who it is yet though,” Copping told NME.

“We’re working on the other two headliners. One or two bands have said to us that they’d like to play for us in 2013. So I’m already starting to put the Download 2013 jigsaw together and we’re off to a good start.”

This year’s Download was headlined by The Prodigy and Metallica, while the reunited Black Sabbath closed the event with the sole surviving gig of their postponed European tour.
