bombaybicycleclubBombay Bicycle Club will join Blur at this summer’s special Hyde Park concert organised to celebrate the end of the 2012 London Olympics.

The London band have been confirmed as Blur’s special guests on August 12th, adding to a bill which also includes New Order and The Specials. The show has been organised by BT London Live, who are curating a series of events to celebrate the end of this year’s Olympic Games. Writing on Facebook after being confirmed for the gig back in February, Blur said:

“We’re rowing in.. going for gold.. grabbing the baton.. for the high jump.. No, hang on, is that right? Fact is, Blur have accepted the invite to headline the Olympics’ Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert in Hyde Park on 12th August.”

Blur will warm up for the headline show with a series of low-key UK dates earlier in August. The short tour will begin at Margate’s Winter Gardens venue on August 1st, before moving on to Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall for two gigs on August 5th and 6th. A final date is due on August 7th at the Plymouth’s Pavilions.
