Video: The Beach Boys play new track and classic single on US TV

The Beach Boys gave their new single ‘That’s Why God Made The Radio‘ its live debut last night (May 8th) on US television, and also aired their classic 1966 track ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice‘. Both performances can be viewed below.

Brian Wilson‘s return to The Beach Boys was confirmed earlier this year, and the legendary band have since unveiled plans for a new album and tour as they celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Appearing on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, the surviving members performed the comeback single for the first time, while Wilson and bandmate Mike Love discussed their emotional reunion with the host.

“Radio was my whole education,” Wilson said of the inspiration behind the new track. “Chuck Berry, Rosemary Clooney, The Four Freshmen, Phil Spector, Little Richard. To hear That’s Why God Made The Radio on the radio would be a thrill beyond belief, it really would.”

“I got a lot of my appreciation for all of the creativity in the world, in terms of music, through the radio,” Mike Love added. “For all of us who grew up in the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and beyond, the radio has played such a huge, important part in our lives. When we were kids, we’d sneak out of the house and go and sit in Brian’s car and listen to the local radio stations on his car radio.”
