The xx to play three low-key London gigs this month

Mercury Prize winners The xx will play three low-key London shows this month as work continues on their second album.

The band’s short run of London gigs will begin on May 14th at the Electrowerkz, followed by shows at Chats Palace (15th) and the Battersea Arts Centre (18th). Fans will be able to get hold of tickets by registering to be entered into a lottery at this link. The deadline for entering will arrive at 9am on Tuesday May 8th, with winners being given their own unique code to purchase tickets at a price of £19.50 plus booking fee.

The xx’s debut album was released to widespread praise in August 2009, and went on to beat the likes of Mumford & Sons, Biffy Clyro and Paul Weller to the 2010 Mercury Music Prize.

The band are likely to preview tracks from their new album to a larger audience when they perform at this year’s Bestival, while they are also due for appearances on mainland Europe at the Primavera and Heineken Open’er festivals.
