The Cribs added to T In The Park festival

cribs1The Cribs have become the latest band to be added to the already impressive line-up for the 2012 T In The Park festival.

The Stone Roses, Kasabian and Snow Patrol will headline this summer’s T In The Park at Balado Park, Kinross between July 6th-8th, with the likes of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, New Order, Happy Mondays and The Vaccines also due to perform this year.

The Cribs broke into the Top 5 on the UK Album Chart earlier this month with their new record ‘In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull‘, with guitarist Ryan Jarman declaring the current ‘pop hell’ nature of UK music as exactly the kind of challenge they wanted to take on when recording their fifth record.

“We didn’t want to do [a new album] while guitar bands were still in vogue because it felt like we always go lumped in with a scene that we didn’t feel represented us,” he told NME. “I don’t like being represented by other bands.”

“Now, we’re in pop hell. The pendulum has swung back to dance music and commercial pop. You can’t avoid it. When you watch TV there’s pop stars on adverts and TV shows – it’s everywhere. So maybe people will see us now as a counter-cultural band – we want to take on the mainstream.”
