Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s cover of ‘God Save The Queen’ unveiled online

Neil Young and Crazy Horse‘s cover of the UK national anthem ‘God Save The Queen‘ has been unveiled online via YouTube, and can be heard below.

The track will close the band’s forthcoming album ‘Americana‘, which is due for release on June 4th. It is Neil Young’s first with Crazy Horse since 2003’s critically polarising ‘Greendale‘, and has been produced by Neil Young along with John Hanlon. It is also the first to feature the full Crazy Horse line-up – including Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina and Frank Sampedro – since 1996’s ‘Broken Arrow‘.

“Written in the 18th century with possible melodic roots in the 17th century, this anthem has been sung throughout the British Commonwealth and may have been sung in North America before the American Revolution and Declaration Of Independence in 1776, which rejected British sovereignty,” Neil Young has said of the song. “The Americana arrangement draws from the original melody and changes some melody and lyrics in the folk process.”
