Blur will perform four low-key UK shows this summer in preparation for their headline date at London’s Hyde Park to celebrate the end of the London Olympics.

The short tour will begin at Margate’s Winter Gardens venue on August 1st, before moving on to Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall for two gigs on August 5th and 6th. A final date will follow at the Plymouth’s Pavilions on August 7th.

Blur will then move on to Hyde Park on August 12th for the show which has been organised to mark the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. Also due to perform on the day are New Order and The Specials.

Speaking to the Metro recently of Blur’s future beyond Hyde Park, frontman Damon Albarn appeared to open up the possibility of more activity from the band in the future, remarking: “If you don’t see something as a career but as an important part of your life, you don’t know how you’re going to feel about it. We want to put on a great performance but nothing’s been said between us about the beginning or the end.”
