Babyshambles’ Drew McConnell cancels gig due to emergency spinal surgery


dmcconnellBabyshambles bass player Drew McConnell was forced to cancel a gig yesterday (May 24th) after being rushed to hospital for emergency spinal surgery.

McConnell had been due to play a solo show at London’s Seabright Arms venue last night, but a Facebook message posted a few hours before revealed the gig  had been cancelled due to McConnell’s hospitalisation.




“Hi guys, really late notice but we have so terrible news,” the message read. “Drew McConnell has just been rushed into hospital, He is having to have emergency spinal surgery. so I’m afraid that we have had to postpone HORROR SHOW. Im really sorry to let you down. We were all really excited about tonight but now we will just have to make the next one which is on June 23rd BIGGER and BETTER!”

As well as his work with Babyshambles, McConnell has also played with Mongrel and Helsinki, while he has sporadically been a part of his former Babyshambles bandmate Pete Doherty‘s backing band.
