The Beastie Boys and Rod Stewart both cancelled appearances at last weekend’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony, following fellow inductee Axl Rose‘s well publicised decision to skip an appearance with Guns n Roses last week.

According to WENN, the Beastie Boys pulled out of a scheduled performance just hours before showtime due to an unspecified illness being suffered by Adam Yauch. “Beastie Boys regret that Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch will be unable to join Mike ‘Mike D’ Diamond and Adam ‘Ad-Rock’ Horovitz at the band’s induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame,” a statement read.

“Mike, Adam and Adam are truly grateful for the honour but with only two of the three Beastie Boys attending, they will unfortunately not be able to perform at the ceremony.”

Rod Stewart, set for a return with the Faces, also cancelled due to a bout of ‘flu, telling organisers he was ‘absolutely devastated’ to be missing out on the party.

Meanwhile, Axl Rose was booed in his absence by a portion of the 6,000 strong crowd in Cleveland on April 14th, when Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong asked ‘who was missing?’ as Slash, Duff McKagan, Steven Adler and Matt Sorum accepted their award.

Reuters reports Armstrong then went on to add: “Most singers are crazy, I can vouch for that. He is one of the best front men to ever touch a microphone. Sometimes you have to look back at chapters of your life to move forward.”
