Video: The Black Keys apologise to Nickelback…sort of

The Black Keys have apologised to Nickelback for infamously singling them out as one of the reasons why ‘rock n roll is dying’, though the apology might not be as sincere as Chad Kroeger and co. had been hoping for.

Earlier this year, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney told Rolling Stone the state of rock n roll has become poor in some people’s eyes because we have become ‘OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be shit’, adding:

“Therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world. Fuck that. Rock & roll is the music I feel the most passionately about, and I don’t like to see it fucking ruined and spoon-fed down our throats in this watered-down, post-grunge crap, horrendous shit.”

However, in an interview which can be viewed below, Carney has told MTV Canada that he ‘didn’t mean to single Nickelback out’, although the laughter shared with bandmate Dan Auerbach suggests it might not have been the most heartfelt of apologies…
