The Smiths reunion gets support from John Prescott

Johnny Marr‘s tongue-in-cheek assertion that The Smiths would reform if the UK’s coalition government steps down has already found support in the corridors of power.

When asked once again about the possibility of a Smiths reunion while attending the NME Awards earlier this week, Marr told the publication: “We won’t be reforming this week. Maybe if the government stepped down. If this government stepped down, I’ll reform the band. How’s that? That’s a fair trade, isn’t it? I think the country would be better off, don’t you? I’ll do it if the coalition steps down.”

And now, the former Labour MP and current member of the House Of Lords, John Prescott, has taken to Twitter to tell the world he intends to do all he can to make the reunion a reality due to his own political convictions. “Hello Johnny,” he wrote. “Just to say we’ll work really hard on that reunion,” before later adding: “Please reform #cosheavenknowsweremiserablenow.”
