Sigur Ros have unveiled the details of ‘Valtari‘, their sixth full length studio album.

Due for release on May 28th, the record is the follow up to the Icelandic band’s 2008 album ‘Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust‘, and will comprise seven tracks, though the group are yet to confirm whether any will be issued prior to the album.

“It’s not like anything else we’ve ever done”, bassist Georg Holm told Q magazine recently. “You could say our past records have been uplifting, or depressing, but this I’d compare to looking at an old landscape painting.”

The record marks Sigur Ros’ return from a short hiatus, and follows the release of the concert film and accompanying live album ‘Inni‘ last November. The movie documented the band’s twin shows at London’s Alexandra Palace which brought their previous world tour to a conclusion.

‘Valtari’ tracklist:

‘Ég Anda’
‘Ekki Múkk’
‘Varúð’
‘Rembihnútur’
‘Dauðalogn’
‘Varðeldur’
‘Valtari’
