A new film which will document the long, un-rivalled career of The Rolling Stones is to be released later this year as part of the celebrations to mark the band’s 50th anniversary.

Directed by Brett Morgen, and produced by the band, the as-yet-untitled documentary is due for release in September and will feature rare footage dating back to 1963.

“For anyone who wants to experience the band, this is the film that will defy convention and create a sonic tapestry to transport viewers into the world of the Rolling Stones,” director Morgen has said. “The film will deliver the original, bold, sexy and dangerous flavor of the iconic rock band.”

Meanwhile, Keith Richards has publicly admitted he regrets any offence caused by the comments he made in his autobiography Life towards Mick Jagger. Richards was extremely candid in the book about his complex relationship with Jagger, and is said to have deeply upset his bandmate in the process.

“He and I have had conversations over the last year of a kind we have not had for an extremely long time and that has been incredibly important to me,” he told Rolling Stone.

“As far as the book goes, it was my story and it was very raw, as I meant it to be, but I know that some parts of it and some of the publicity really offended Mick and I regret that.”
