Mumford & Sons play new songs at special SXSW gig

Mumford & Sons performed a number of tracks expected to feature on their second album during a special performance at Austin’s South By Southwest festival over the weekend.

The British band were appearing at the festival along side Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes following a screening of their tour film Big Easy Express, which documents the bands’ Railroad Revival tour across North America, which took place in 2011.

Playing at the University of Texas’ LBJ lawn on March 17th, Mumford & Sons aired new songs ‘Lover’s Eyes‘ and ‘Lover Of The Night‘, while the recently debuted ‘Ghosts That We Knew‘ was also performed, introduced by frontman Marcus Mumford as ‘one you definitely haven’t heard before’.

Earlier, members of Old Crow Medicine Show, who were also a part of the 2011 Railroad tour, reunited for a short acoustic set.
