Leeds band the Kaiser Chiefs will release a Greatest Hits collection in June, the band have revealed.

Entitled ‘Souvenir‘, the retrospective will contain the group’s first 14 singles, including the UK chart topper ‘Ruby‘ and indie dancefloor anthem ‘I Predict a Riot‘. Also featuring will be two new tracks – ‘On The Run‘ and ‘Listen To Your Head‘. The album is due for release on June 4th.

With Greatest Hits releases traditionally seen as the beginning of the end for a band, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson has told the Daily Star this release does mark the start of their own demise.

“This isn’t the end but even I was surprised when I looked at the stats to see what we’ve achieved,” he said. “We’ve amassed enough singles to put out a more-than-solid compilation.”

While looking back on their career, Wilson stated his belief that the Kaisers do not get the credit they deserve for being ‘more political than most bands’.

“People get blinded by our stripy blazers, but we’re more political than most bands,” he continued. “Our biggest hits are actually pretty gloomy. Even ‘Ruby’, the one song we’ve written about love, says the best bit of a relationship is the time between first seeing someone and finding out their name.”
