Australian rock band Jet have announced their decision to split, nine years after the release of debut album ‘Get Born‘.

The group broke the news via a message on their official website, in which Nic Cester, Mark Wilson, Cameron Muncey and Chris Cester moved to thank fans for their support through ‘many successful years of writing, recording and touring’.

“After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group,” the message reads. “From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and goodnight.”

‘Get Born’ delivered immediate commercial success for Jet upon its release in September 2003, topping the charts in their homeland while the UK, in the midst of the so-called New Rock Revolution, lapped up the album’s lead single ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl?‘, which is now one of the signature hits of the era.
