Bloc Party have signed to Frenchkiss records as they prepare to release a new album this year following a period on hiatus.

Frenchkiss will deal with the band in North America, while Cooperative Music will take care business for the rest of the world. The band’s frontman Kele Okereke has welcomed their new deal after Bloc Party’s first three albums were released through the Wichita label.

“This signing has made Bloc Party very happy because not only do we know and love the people at this label but we know and love this label’s output,” he remarked.

“Frenchkiss has released some mighty fine music over the years, music that has gone on to influence this very band. So here’s to some more mighty fine music.”

Bloc Party are in New York recording the follow up to 2008′s ‘Intimacy‘ whose release, along with the stand-alone single ‘One More Chance‘, marked the band’s move into an indefinite hiatus from which they are now emerging.
