Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has said he hopes the band’s new album will be released in time to coincide with their newly announced US summer tour.

Billboard reports Tyler was speaking from The Grove in Los Angeles when he confirmed their plans, but also admitted that ‘doing a record in four months is unheard of in Aerosmith territory’.

Aerosmith’s as-yet-untitled new album will be their first since 2004’s ‘Honkin’ On Bobo‘, and requires two more songs to be written according to Tyler. The record is being produced by the band’s previous collaborator Jack Douglas.

Aerosmith unveiled the details of their Global Warming tour yesterday (March 29th), and will kick off the dates at the Target Center in Minneapolis on June 16th. The itinerary also includes a date in Canada at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, and stretches into July with a concert at the Nassau Coliseum on the 1st. More shows are due in August, when a final gig will arrive on the 8th at the Tacoma Dome.
