The Jesus and Mary Chain have announced a series of US dates for next month, their first North American gigs since 2008.

The influential Glasgow band, who reunited in 2007 following an initial split in 1998, will perform three headline US shows during March, and are also due to appear at the South By Southwest Festival in Texas.

The touring line-up will feature founding members William and Jim Reid, as well as bassist Phil King, who latterly joined the group in the mid-Nineties. John Moore, who left the band in 1988 and later formed Black Box Recorder, is also back on board.

“So, back in the JAMC after a quarter of a century,” Moore has said on Twitter. “I am the hardest working man in show business.”

The Jesus and Mary Chain US dates:

March 11 – Denton, TX, 35 Denton Festival
March 12 – New Orleans, LA, House of Blues New Orleans
March 13 – Houston, TX, House of Blues Houston
TBA – Austin, TX, SXSW
