Producer Stephen Street would ‘love’ to work with Blur again

Acclaimed producer Stephen Street has said he would love to work with Blur again should the band press on with plans to record new material.

Street played a leading role in each of Blur’s studio albums before 1999’s ‘13‘ marked a departure in both sound and production for the band, when they instead enlisted the talents of William Orbit on a more electronically-tinged affair.

And now, with Graham Coxon recently stating his belief that Blur will ‘definitely’ release a new LP at some stage in the future, Street has told Louderthanwar.com that while he doesn’t expect to be approached to work on any potential new album, he would relish the opportunity.

“I’ve not been approached about a new record and I doubt I will be,” he said. “I don’t think we should assume that they’ll make an album, I got the impression that they don’t want the pressure of having to make a new record.”

“Obviously I would love to be asked to produce them again but, I don’t know, they haven’t asked me to do the ‘Under the Westway’ track – William Orbit is involved apparently – but I don’t know.”

Under The Westway‘ was the first track borne out of recent sporadic recording sessions to be aired live when it received its debut during a performance by Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon during a pre-Brits fundraiser earlier this week.
