Brendan Benson has announced a clutch of UK & Ireland tour dates for this coming May which will support his new solo record ‘What Kind Of World‘.

The short tour will be launched on May 21st at the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms, with gigs in London, Manchester and Dublin due ahead of a final show at Glasgow’s Oran Mor venue on May 25th. Support will be provided throughout by Young Hines.

‘What Kind Of World’, the follow up to 2009’s ‘My Old, Familiar Friend‘ and Benson’s fifth solo studio album, is due for release on April 30th. The LP was recorded at the Welcome To 1979 Studios in Nashville.

Brendan Benson has released two albums with The Raconteurs in recent years, the last of which, ‘Consolers Of The Lonely‘, arrived in 2008. In an interview with meg.ie back in 2010, Benson refused to rule out the possibility of more Raconteurs plans in the future, declaring: “There aren’t any plans for another Racs record at this point, but it’s not an impossibility.”
