Blur to headline European festival this summer

blur32Blur have been added to the bill for this year’s Way Out West festival.

The band will join the likes of Bon Iver and Florence & The Machine at the event, which is to take place between August 9th-11th in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Despite Alex James‘ assertion that Blur’s recent appearance at the Brit Awards could prove to be the ‘final bow’ for the group, 2012 seems to be shaping up to be an interesting year in the Blur camp, with guitarist Graham Coxon recently telling The Daily Record there will ‘definitely’ be a new album in the future.

“It’s pretty nice to be getting the Brit award,” he said. “We haven’t planned the rehearsals yet, but there will definitely be another Blur album.”

“2009 was an amazing healing experience for us,” he continued. “We were really swept away with it and got a lot out of our systems. We realised how much we still had in common, that we are good friends, that we are brothers. We’re always going to meet up and want to play things. We do like recording.”
