Blur are enjoying an increase in album sales of 2,700% following their Outstanding Contribution honour and live performance at last night’s Brit Awards.

The band, making their first live appearance since 2009, aired a clutch of classic singles during the longest Brits performance in history, and were joined by actor Phil Daniels for ‘Parklife‘.

Other big winners of the night, Adele and Ed Sheeran, are also experiencing a boost in sales. Despite already being the biggest selling album of the century, Adele’s ‘21‘ has seen sales rise by 166%, while Ed Sheeran’s debut ‘+‘ is up by 796%.

“Adele may have been cut short during her ‘Album of the Year’ acceptance speech but her reign in the charts continues with orders for both of her 21 and 19 albums after the Brits last night propelling her back up the top ten,” Paul Firth, Amazon UK music and MP3 manager has said.

“While Adele is back at the top of the chart it was Blur who saw the biggest uplift in sales of CDs and MP3 downloads last night with a 2,700% increase following the ceremony with many of their fans from the ’90s looking to reconnect with the Britpop band.”
