Pink Floyd to reunite for London 2012 Olympics?

The surviving members of Pink Floyd are being tipped to reunite this summer for the London 2012 Olympics by the London Evening Standard newspaper.

The paper quotes an ‘insider’ as saying the forthcoming sports event is exactly the type of special occasion which could tempt Dave Gilmour, Roger Waters and Nick Mason to play together once again under the Pink Floyd banner.

“It’s long been made clear it would take something very special to get Pink Floyd back together again and it doesn’t get any bigger than the Olympics,” the paper quotes the source as saying.

“Like Sir Paul, they have been a major part of the nation’s culture over the past 40 years and it will be very fitting that they’re involved when London is on show to the world. It’s hoped everything can be confirmed in the coming weeks.”

Hopes were raised of a full scale reunion for Pink Floyd when Gilmour and Mason briefly joined Waters onstage at the O2 last year during his re-imagined Wall Tour.
