Lana Del Rey receives support from Daniel Radcliffe

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has defended the performance of Lana Del Rey on last weekend’s Saturday Night Live programme which he hosted.

Most vocal of those critcising the fast-rising singer was Juliette Lewis, who described her as being like ‘a 12-year-old in their bedroom when they’re pretending to sing and perform’ on Twitter before later deleting the comments.

In response Radcliffe, speaking at this morning’s BAFTA nominations, has called on people to keep their focus on her music.

“It was unfortunate that people seemed to turn on her so quickly,” Radcliffe is quoted as saying by BBC Newsbeat. “I also think people are making it about things other than the performance. If you read what people are saying about her online, it’s all about her past and her family and stuff that’s nobody else’s business. I don’t think it warranted anywhere near that reaction.”

Lana Del Rey was today confirmed as one of the latest acts due to appear the 2012 South By South West festival.
