Bloc Party are now recording their new album with Kele Okereke, the band’s frontman has confirmed.

Last September, the future of Bloc Party’s familiar line-up was thrown in to doubt when three members of the band were apparently caught by Okereke in the midst of recording sessions in his absence, with Russell Lissack explaining to NME shortly after that:

“It’s not really a secret because Kele’s been pretty busy doing solo stuff and it looks like he’s going to be doing that a bit longer. The other three of us wanted to meet up and make music. We were talking about just doing an instrumental thing, but now we might get a singer as well, to properly put some music out and play some shows.”

Those solo commitments now appear to be over, with Okereke telling Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 this morning (January 3rd) that he and the group now have two tracks fully recorded, with a further 17 demoed.

Bloc Party have been in hiatus since the summer of 2009, during which time Kele Okereke released the solo album ‘The Boxer‘ in June 2010.
