2013 Glastonbury headliners ‘already sorted’

michaeleavisGlastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has said he is ‘determined’ to be a part of the festival’s 50th year, and has also confirmed the headliners for 2013 are ‘already sorted’.

BBC Newsbeat quotes Eavis in Groningen, Holland, where he was present to pick up the Lifetime Achievement prize at the European Festival Awards.

“I’m really determined somehow or other to make the 50 years – I don’t see why I shouldn’t make it,” Eavis said. “Strangely enough, I do feel incredibly fit. I don’t see why I shouldn’t make it. I’ve got the bands who want to play and the people who want to buy the tickets so why shouldn’t we carry on?”

In addition to Eavis’ personal recognition, Glastonbury also picked up the Best Major Festival gong at the UK Festival Awards late last year, the second time in three years it has won the accolade following acclaimed headline performances in 2011 from Coldplay, U2 and Beyonce.
