The first taster from he forthcoming Bob Dylan tribute album in aid of Amnesty International, which includes covers from acts as diverse as Queens Of The Stone Age, We Are Augustines and Miley Cyrus, has emerged online.
The video features popstar Ke$ha‘s take on Dylan’s classic single ‘Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right‘, and Ke$ha has said she didn’t want her version to take the iconic track in a ‘poppy’ direction.
“I didn’t want this to sound like a pop version of a Bob Dylan song. That’s the last thing I wanted this to sound like,” she said. “There were particular lyrics in the song that you can just tell, once they came out of my mouth – the emotion caught up with me and I just started weeping.”
“It’s something that I didn’t plan on, that wasn’t contrived at all. It just sort of happened. It seemed like a suicide note to the love of my life and to my former life. Because everything in my life has changed so much. And it went from being this ambiguous interpretation – this idea we had – to it being so completely relevant to everything I’m going through.”
The album will be released on January 30th. The full tracklisting can be viewed here.
