U2 frontman Bono has said he tries to avoid listening back to his band’s songs as his voice annoys him.

The Daily Express newspaper quotes Bono on yesterday’s (December 1st) Elle DeGeneres Show where, when asked if he listens to himself sing, he apparently told the host:

“I do try to avoid it. If I hear our songs on the radio I tend to turn them down. Not because I don’t like them or believe in them. Actually, my voice annoys me. I always think I could have sang it better. I am sort of a macho, Irish guy and particularly in those 80s songs, I think I sound like a girl.”

U2′s headline spot at Glastonbury, where they were joined by fellow bill-toppers Coldplay and Beyonce, helped the event win the Best Major Festival prize at the recent UK Festival Awards – the second time in three years Glastonbury has landed the coveted gong.
