The National Included On Best Song Oscar Longlist

US alternative types The National are amongst the acts to have made the shortlist for the 2012 Academy award for Best Original Song.

The National have been nominated for their track ‘Think You Can Wait‘, which features on the Thomas McCarthy directed, sports comedy-drama Win-Win. The National are one of the 39 artists to have made the initial line-up.

She And Him‘s Zooey Deschanel is also in the running for ‘So Long‘, which is included on the Winnie the Pooh soundtrack, while the Lady Gaga and Elton John duet ‘Hello Hello‘ from Gnomeo and Juliet also gets a mention.

The final nominations for the 84th Academy Awards will be announced on January 24th next year, with the ceremony taking place a month later at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. Previous winners of the Best Original Song Oscar include Eminem with ‘Lose Yourself‘, and Bob Dylan, who provided ‘Things Have Changed‘ to the 2000 movie Wonder Boys.
