Brian May and Roger Taylor could be ready take the Queen banner out on the road again for a new tour with American Idol singer Adam Lambert, reports Billboard.
The publication claims Taylor and May have been in talks with the reality show contestant since they performed with one another at the MTV European Music Awards last month.
“He has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice with a range that’s great,” Taylor has apparently said. “We would like to work with him again. There’s nothing signed just yet but we’re talking about live dates. It could be very exciting.”
Taylor and May were last in major action with Queen back in 2009 when they teamed up with former Free and Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, during which time they embarked on a world tour in support of the album ‘The Cosmos Rocks‘ (2008).
The band’s former bass player John Deacon retired from public life following the death of Queen’s iconic frontman Freddie Mercury in 1991.
Ever since hearing Adam sing, and especially when he sang with Queen in the AI finale, I have hoped this might happen. It’s not that I think that Freddie could ever be replaced, as that is impossible, but Adam has an incredible range and the ability to use his voice in a way that just blows me away. I can only say that, as far as this is aspect concerned, Freddie is the only other one who ever affected me like this when he sang. So if this story is true then I say give it a try.
The man got a Grammy Nominee for his first hit single. He’s proven time, and time again, he’s in a league of his own, FAR above other “reality show contestants.” What is it going to take for the press to get up to speed? Perhaps you folks should actually listen…and watch some of his performances. He’s PHENOMENAL.
