Public Image Ltd. are to re-issue their entire back catalogue next year, according to reports today.

The band’s eight studio albums, excluding 1979’s ‘Metal Box‘ which received its own reissue in 2009, will be re-released, along with two live albums and the John Lydon‘s solo record ‘Psycho’s Path‘.

2012 should also see the long-awaited appearance of Public Image Ltd’s new studio album, which has been in the works since the band reformed back in 2009.

“It is probably going to be called ‘This is PiL’ basically because it is, it is all the work, effort and energy we put into this record,” Lydon has told BBC 6Music.

Public Image Ltd. were formed by John Lydon shortly after the messy final demise of the Sex Pistols in 1978. The debut album ‘First Issue‘ followed soon after, while ‘Rise‘, arguably the band’s most recognisable single, was released in January 1986, peaking #11 on the UK charts.
