PJ Harvey‘s much-vaunted album ‘Let England Shake‘ has come out on top of HMV‘s annual Poll Of Polls rundown.

Each year, the retailer draws up the chart from 35 different polls taken from various magazines, national newspapers and websites. Unsurprisingly, the Mercury Prize winning record has been placed at #1, ahead of Bon Iver‘s well received self-titled second record.

“Musically, the album is untouchable, combining deceptively simple songwriting with sublime musicianship and sparse production to great effect,” John Hirst, HMV’s music manager, has said on ‘Let England Shake’.

Also included on the top 10 are The Horrors‘ ‘Skying‘ and Fleet Foxes‘ ‘Helplessness Blues‘ which, along with PJ Harvey and Bon Iver, were featured on Live4ever’s own Essential Albums of 2011. View the full Essential Listening 2011 series here.
