Noel Gallagher has confirmed his first UK festival appearance as a solo artist.

The former Oasis songwriter will take his High Flying Birds to next year’s Isle Of Wight festival, where he will perform immediately before Bruce Springsteen on the festival’s main stage on Sunday, 24th June.

Noel Gallagher has enjoyed significant success since the release of his début solo album ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds‘ last October. The record went straight in to number one on the UK charts, and he is already plotting a move up to British arenas when he launches a second tour of the UK in 2012.

John Giddings, the Isle Of Wight organiser, has recently spoken of his desire to secure an ‘American Trilogy’ of headliners for 2012 with Bruce Springsteen already secured. Some rumours suggest Madonna is high on his wishlist, as the pop superstar puts the finishing touches to a new album ahead of an expected return to the UK next year.
