Leeds band the Kaiser Chiefs are to release a brand new, stand-alone single early next year, reports XFM.

Kaiser Chief’s frontman Ricky Wilson broke the news when speaking to XFM ahead of their Winter Wonderland gig for the station, and revealed the Stephen Street-produced track is entitled ‘On The Run‘.

“We do everything differently and the most different thing we could do to what we did last time is bring out a record normally,” Wilson said. “In the new year we’re bringing out one single, a single on it’s own, which we’ve never done before.”

“It’s called ‘On the Run’ and we recorded it with Stephen Street who, if you’re a buff, you’ll know he recorded our first two albums with. Well one and a half.”

Prior to the official release of their fourth studio album ‘The Future Is Medieval‘ last June, the band dabbled in some innovative promotion by allowing fans to select their own ten-song tracklist from a selection of twenty.

Despite the approach garnering plenty of new attention for the group, their bass player Simon Rix later admitted the plan had backfired somewhat as ‘no-one knew their album was out’.
