Former Oasis Drummer Zak Starkey’s New Band Unveils Debut Single

penguinsPenguins, the new band led by one-time Oasis and Who drummer Zak Starkey, have released their debut single ‘Hate Male‘ to the online world.

The single follows recent supports slots for the duo – which is completed by vocalist ‘Sshh’ –  with the likes of Beady Eye, and they will also support Kasabian along side Miles Kane at the band’s forthcoming twin dates at the O2 Arena on December 14th and 15th.

Zak Starkey has forged a long association with The Who during the past decade, with his ferocious, energetic drumming style following in the grandest tradition of the band’s legendary sticksman Keith Moon.

In 2004, he joined Oasis during LA recording sessions for the Manchester group’s sixth studio album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth‘ after the departure of their long-term drummer Alan White. He then embarked with the band on a hugely successful subsequent world tour, and was widely expected to be a part of what would prove to be Oasis’ final world jaunt a few years later, but left shortly after the completion of ‘Dig Out Your Soul‘ in 2008.
