Harcore rockers Cancer Bats have revealed an unlikley source of inspiration for their new album – folk band Fleet Foxes.

The Canadian band will release their fourth studio album, ‘Dead Set On Living‘, next year, and frontman Liam Cormier has said despite their heavy rock leanings, the Cancer Bats are not afraid to look elsewhere for influence when they write new material.

“In a lot of ways we get really inspired by non-metal bands,” he told Spinner. “For me, I find I really like looking at other things because I just don’t want to make a traditional hardcore record lyrically. So for me, I listen to a lot of indie rock and I’ve been getting super psyched on a lot of that, like the new ‘Helplessness Blues’ by Fleet Foxes.”

Late last year, the Live4ever Ezine caught Cancer Bats live in Stoke, in which they were described as a “live act to be feared.” Read the full review here.
