Brian May Admits Himself & Roger Taylor May Not Be Queen

Brian May has admitted the validity of himself and Roger Taylor still performing and recording under the Queen banner could be questioned following the death of their frontman Freddie Mercury and the subsequent retirement of bass player John Deacon.

In recent years, May and Taylor have toured and released an album with former Free and Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers, and are also rumoured to be considering live dates with American Idol contestant Adam Lambert.

However, when speaking to BBC 6Music, May acknowledged that it is questionable as to whether having only two remaining active members is still enough to perform under the guise of the legendary British band.

“Are we Queen? In a sense we are but in another sense we never can be,” he said. “We keep getting asked to do things which is great but it’s that being Queen thing, I think we’ll have to make a film ‘Being Queen’, what does it mean?”

“The good thing about it is, we are a sort of open book, we can interact with people when it comes up.”

The possibility of May and Taylor performing with Adam Lambert first emerged following their collaboration at last month’s MTV European Music Awards.
