Alex James Confirms Blur Will Perform At 2012 Brits

Blur bass player Alex James has confirmed the band will perform live at next year’s Brit Awards ceremony when they are handed the Outstanding Contribution To Music prize.

“We’re going to play, which is brilliant, it’s like putting the Blues Brothers back together,” James told XFM.

Meanwhile, James has also hinted at the possibility of further dates for Blur following their Brits appearance, and is quoted in The Sun as saying: “We all remembered how much we loved being a band. I had always said in interviews I didn’t miss being in a band, but that reminded me that I did. Who knows what will happen, but there is a lot to look forward to.”

The original Blur line-up reformed in the summer of 2009 for a series of acclaimed festival and outdoor headline appearances, but as yet have resisted the urge to follow up those shows with any new material, despite the band confirming low-key recording sessions on numerous occasions since.
