2012 Oxegen Festival Cancelled, Organisers Confirm

Ireland’s Oxegen Festival will not be held next year, organisers have announced.

The sister-event to Scotland’s T In The Park has been running since 2004 and annually plays host to around 80,000 music fans. Last year, the festival’s bill was topped by the Foo Fighters, Coldplay and Black Eyed Peas. However, after rumours next year’s event was in doubt when no news of early bird tickets emerged, festival promoters MCD have now released a short statement confirming ‘a year off’.

“Oxegen like Glastonbury is taking a year off in 2012 and will be back July 2013,” they said. “Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas & peaceful New Year. Keep rockin’ in 2012 and we will see you in 2013.”

Despite the cancellation of Oxegen, Ireland will still be paid a visit by T In The Park headliners The Stone Roses, who are due to appear at Dublin’s Phoenix Park on July 5th next year for their own massive headline show.
