The Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard has said he is working with producer Tony Hoffer on a new track which is taking its inspiration from dance music.

Writing an exclusive blog on the Huffington Post, Pritchard said the move towards a dance-orientated sound is something The Kooks flirted with on their most recent album ‘Junk Of The Heart‘, and they are now pushing ahead with the plans.

“With our latest album, Junk of the Heart, we were thinking of fusing real traditional songwriting and modern sounds, not being at all traditional in the way we recorded it,” he wrote.

“We’ve only just started down that line now, and our producer Tony Hoffer is a genius. I loved working with the more modern sounds and I loved making the album very much.”

“I’m working on something at the moment with some very different production, I’ll post it as soon as it’s ready, it’s sounding massive. I’ve never done anything like it, it’s dance music essentially.”

Reflecting on the shift in music consumption since the release of their debut album ‘Inside In/Inside Out‘ in 2006, Pritchard also remarked:

“Music has changed so much since we last put out a record. When we released our second album, Konk, people were still listening to CDs. And before that, when we released Inside In/Inside Out there were so many bands, you had a new one smashing it every month.”

‘Junk Of The Heart’ was released back in September, peaking at #10 on the UK Album Chart.
