Rare Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Sleeve Is ‘Most Valuable In The World’

thebeatle

A rare, limited edition version of The Beatles‘ sleeve for ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band‘ has been named the most valuable record cover in the world by Record Collector magazine.

The sleeve, which was adapted to feature the faces of various record company executives in place of the more familiar stars of the original, has been valued at £70,000, comfortably ahead of the LP in second place – numbered copies of The Beatles’ 1968 self-titled release, better known as ‘The White Album’.

In total, five Beatles albums feature in the top 10, including their infamous ‘butcher’ sleeve, which was banned in the US shortly after its release in 1966.
